Our treatment relates not only to the hands and feet but also the brain.

Arrange your appointment at DKZ online.

Hair and skin disorders can occur in isolation or as a symptom of another skin disorder.

Hair disorders

The following are particularly common:

  • Hair loss
  • Increased hair growth

Irreversible forms of hair loss (e.g. Lupus erythematosus) also occur as part of other disorders. In all cases, a precise diagnosis of the cause is essential for successful treatment.

Hair loss

People normally lose 50 to 100 hairs per day. This is not usually noticeable since new hairs grow at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair does not replace the hair that has fallen out.

Hair loss typically occurs together with one or more of the following factors:

  • Family history (hereditary)

The most common cause of hair loss is a hereditary disease which occurs with age. This is known as androgenetic alopecia, male hair loss and female hair loss. It usually occurs gradually and in predictable patterns - receding hairline and bald patches in men and thinning hair along the scalp in women.

  • Hormonal changes and disorders

A number of conditions can lead to permanent or temporary hair loss, including hormonal changes caused by pregnancy, birth, menopause and thyroid problems.

  • Drugs and diet

Hair loss can occur as a side effect of certain drugs such as those used to treat cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, gout and high blood pressure.

  • A very stressful phase of life

Many people suffer generalised hair loss several months after a physical or emotional shock. This type of hair loss is temporary.

  • Hairstyling and treatments

Excessive hairstyling or perms which pull the hair tight such as plaits can lead to a form of hair loss known as traction alopecia. Hair treatments using oil and perms can also lead to hair loss. Hair loss can be permanent in case of scarring.

Your route to healthier skin

Diagnosis

In order for the treatment to be successful, the examination and correct diagnosis by our specialist expert is crucial.

As a diagnostic basis, we thoroughly examine and assess your scalp. In the case of hair loss, we usually perform a blood test to determine or rule out deficiency symptoms (e.g. vitamin deficiency).

Treatment

Our treatment approach varies depending on the origin of your hair disease. Hair loss can often be treated locally and effectively with Minodixil solutions, vitamin capsules or tablets. Thus, deficiency or hormonal factors can be compensated.

Furthermore, light therapy, laser treatment or PRP treatment (therapy with platelet-rich plasma) show good results. We will surely find the best way for you.

Nail diseases

There are numerous presentations. Most severely affect the quality of life of sufferers.

The following disorders are particularly common:

  • Infection (nail fungus)
  • Inflammation of the nail bed
  • Ingrowth of the nail in the skin
  • Growth disturbances
  • Discolourations

Although most disorders are not very threatening, they are uncomfortable and often painful for sufferers. Our dermatologists can help your nails to recover through expert diagnoses and targeted treatments.

Diagnosis

We analyse your medical history during a personal consultation. Firstly, we discuss your symptoms (e.g. itching). Secondly, we discuss whether the nail disorder is related to other disorders (e.g. Psoriasis) or the consumption of drugs. Finally, we analyse psychological factors such as your stress levels in recent months.

The treatment of nail disease depends on the diagnosis:

Nail fungus

Application of medicated nail polish in combination with laser therapy

Ingrown nail

Minimally invasive approach used to remove small nail strips and prevent a return through obliteration.

Nail psoriasis (psoriasis)

Drug treatment or laser therapy
